VPC - Notes
I intend to expand and elaborate on what is presented here. Items on my list to do include:
- Reworking the site currently in subtle ways to bring the pages up to HTML 4.01 and then to XHTML 1.0 Standards Compliance. Making more use of CSS.
- A suggestion is to have the Days-Between-Dates utility (whenever it gets written) to not only specify a simple number of days, but also a variation of that as # Years, # of Months, # of Days. the further suggestion is to allow for 'Given a Birthday of X, what will the date be when the person reachs age of Y?' Both ideas here are from Ken Brock.
- Add more support for Cascading Style Sheets and META Tags.
- Add in Correlation tables for the 17th and the 18th Centuries (1601-1800) to support Genealogists per the suggestion by Charles at chases@concentric.net.
- coloring in the seasons with different colors. this will of course require two sets of calendars since the Northern and Southern Hemisphere have the seasons reversed. Australia has also their seasons set not on the Solstices and Equinoxes, but on their own dates.
- It occurs to me that I might need to add a seperate page of 'Events' that are legal events that occur periodically, like Election Day, Inaugration Days, Tax Day, etc. that are not holidays, but are special days that occur on a specific date every year, every other year, every four years, etc. Instead of lumping them all into the same page. If I can identify 10+ in a year I will do so. Let me know if you have any.
- Sometime build a similiar calendar for the US Federal Government Fiscal Year. Given this works, possibly build a set of Fiscal Year Calendars starting on each of the different twelve months. Who knows, if I get some actual requests, I could build a business for building a CGI to generate these Virtual Calendars with special dates for different companies. (i.e. Paydays every other week, Company Events, Company Holidays, etc.). Drop me a line I am willing to entertain possibilities.
- Add additional Year Correlation tables for future centuries (22nd through 30th) as well as past centuries (1st through 19th). What makes it more interesting is the change from the Julian Calendar system to the Gregorian, which occurred in different years in different countries around the world.
- Contemplating how to construct a similiar Virtual Perpetual Calendar for the Hebrew Calendar system.
- I should also add some other pages (when I find the time):
- a References Page... refering to other sites that explain in more detail about certain aspects found on my pages
- a Other Calendar Page... sites that also support calendars (although this is a task in itself as you can see if you visit CalendarLand
- a Acknowledgements Page... which denotes those wonderful people that have found errors on my page, and those that provided helpful suggestions.
- a Time Units Page... list out all the English measurements of time, with conversion factors. this has been started with the 'Time Measurements' Defintion Page.
- A suggestion was to add a Java Script or Java Applet when provided with two dates, calculate the number of days between them. this applet should also calculate the day of the week for both dates.
- Add some description information for each page
I do very much appreciate any and all comments I receive. I put these pages because I enjoy doing things with the Web. And whenever I get a request for extensions or expansions to the data I have, I try and oblige. I am not being paid for this effort (other than my own enjoyment). I want to provide useful and correct information. So let me know how I am doing.
